About: Ariel

I am a college student studying English and Communications, and since I was very young I have felt that God may be calling me to take hold of the education my loving family has provided for me, the truths God has shown me, and the freedoms America has given me to craft them into something that will bring tangible relief to the world’s many impoverished citizens and tell them about Christ. I met Matthew and Lee Dwinells while volunteering with my church at Rancho 3M in Mexico and have followed their journey to the Philippines while praying that I might find some way to help them. After a few failed attempts to obtain grants, my friends and family were very generous and donated money so that I could go serve at the orphanage. I received encouragement and help from various professors, and Dr. G very kindly created this website for me to update while I am there. I am excited to see how God blesses the faith and support of the many people who have helped launch my trip. I pray that even just a few people will gain a better understanding of life in the Philippines and that through this endeavor the children at the orphanage will grow physically and spiritually. My upcoming adventure is a great unknown to me, but I’m sure God will use it for good. “For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing,” Deuteronomy 10: 17-18.

Reflections

I never know what I am going to learn when I am on a missions trip. After all, you don’t know what you don’t know. I always expect to be affected by the poverty that I see, but I am never able to accurately predict how the experience...

Cyber Sex

I was sitting in the back of the orphanage jeepney watching Pastor Allan become more and more animated.  Except for Pastor Allan, his wife (Irene), a couple of their kids, and me, the back of the jeepney was empty.  They were the last family to be dropped off...

Being an Orphan

We call them orphans, but nearly all of the kids at the orphanage have living family members.  Many of them even have parents.  Nevertheless, extreme poverty makes it difficult for these parents to provide their children with even the minimum physical requirements necessary to survive.  In addition to...
